Catalina Denis is the granddaughter of Colombian film producer Gabrielle de la Paz, granddaughter of Colombian musician Pedro J. Morales and daughter of Colombian architect and film director Fernando Ivan Zarate Denis. She graduated as an architect but left school in 2010 to focus on modeling.
In the beginning of 2013, Barcelona footballer Jordi Alba invited Catalina Denis to join him at a party. The duo connected immediately and they soon started dating. They were later married in her native Colombia on the 14th of January in 2013.
